Edgar is the son of Dr William Macreadie Edgar and Dr Freda Elizabeth Edgar. He studied Philosophy at

Career

Edgar joined the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1981 and was posted to the British Embassy in Moscow. He has served as British Ambassador to Cambodia, Ambassador to Macedonia, Consul General in St Petersburg; and interim Ambassador to the Holy See. He played a key role in Protocol Directorate in the FCO in relation to arrangements for the
